Mix and Selecta Chocolates sponsor the a 3rd edition of the Cake Awards

The grand awards ceremony will be held on March 5, in São Paulo, and will have a special guest appearance by pastry chef Beca Milano

For the third consecutive year, Mix and Selecta Chocolates, brands of the Brazilian multinational company Duas Rodas that operate in the baking and chocolates market, sponsored the Cake Awards, the biggest artistic baking event in Brazil. The award’s mission is to reveal new talents throughout the country and to value the work of pastry and chocolate-making professionals. With almost five thousand works registered, the 2023 edition will take place on March 5 and will be broadcast live, direct from the studio set up in Boulevard JK, in São Paulo.

Considered the Oscars of Brazilian baking, the 2023 Cake Awards will reveal the winners of 12 categories: Children’s Birthday Cake, Commemorative Cake, Wedding Cake, Cream Cake, Sculpted Cake, Themed Cake, Decorated Cookie, Composition of Cookies, Sugar Flowers, Fondant, Cake Painting and Original Cake.

Original Cake

The “Cake of the Year Cake Awards” category is the main prize of the event and therefore will have a special guest appearance by Mix ambassador and pastry chef, Beca Milano. The category has a specific theme, this year it´s “Animation Classics”, and cakes made especially for the awards. The big winner will receive a trophy directly from chef Beca Milano and will be automatically invited to be part of the Cake Awards academy, as a judge and presenter at the event.

“Developing and giving visibility to our market, that is my main objective as a Mix ambassador. Therefore, it is an honor to be able to participate in one of the biggest events of Brazilian baking as a representative of this segment that touches people’s lives. More than just technique and products, baking involves emotion, dreams and memories. The Cake Awards is the embodiment of it all”, Beca states.

Red Carpet

On the day of the awards (March 5), starting at 7 pm, guests will be able to watch as sponsors, participants and judges – in real time – walk the red carpet. In addition, you can also check out interviews with some winners of the 2022 Cake Awards. The organizers of the event are nationally recognized cake designers Rick Zavala and Luiz Toledo.

Important news in the world of Brazilian baking, Mix and Beca Milano have renewed their exclusive partnership in 2023, the chef will continue as a brand ambassador. Among the news and actions planned are talks, events, special courses, and lots of tips to make life easier for bakers and chocolate makers, i.e., micro and small local entrepreneurs, all over the country.

The day after the Cake Awards, the ambassador goes straight to Porto Alegre to participate in SugarCake and give important tips on “How to surprise in the baking”.

With a degree in Pharmacy and Biochemistry, Beca decided to apply all her chemical knowledge to baking. In 2012, she dove into the segment and graduated in Pâtisserie and Boulangerie. After that she took countless courses in the most diverse areas of baking until she specialized in decoration techniques in sugar and chocolate. Today, the Mix ambassador, in addition to being a chef, she is the host of Bake Off Brasil – A cereja do Bolo.
