Brazilian multinational company is recognized in the Prêmio Valor Inovação Brasil 2019 Award. Currently, the company invests more than 5% of its revenue in new solutions and technologies.
The Duas Rodas, the national leader in the production of flavors and ingredients for the food & beverage industry, has been recognized for the 4th year in row as one of the most innovative companies of Brazil by the Prêmio Valor Inovação Brasil Award, which reached its 5th edition in 2019. The ranking is an initiative of Valor Econômico in partnership with global consultancy company Strategy& (PWC), and recognizes companies that excel in research & technology development and in the innovation practice results.
Ranking selection starts with a study including companies from 23 different segments and analyzes companies’ innovation practices, supported by five pillars: intention to innovate, effort to conduct the innovation, results obtained, assessment by the market and production of knowledge. This survey results in the Inovação Brasil Yearbook, which lists the 150 most innovative companies in the country.
Duas Rodas celebrates its inclusion in the ranking of Valor Inovação Brasil for the 4th year in a roll as one of the most innovative companies in the country. For president Leonardo Fausto Zipf, this is a major recognition of a permanent investment strategy that focuses on research, development, intellectual capital, and infrastructure for product, technology and process innovation. He points out that innovation is the most consistent way of providing sustainability to the company.
The Brazilian multinational counts on a technological road map in its strategic planning that determines the return for an innovation area over the following five years, and one of the criteria establishes that innovative products must account for a minimum of 10% of the company’s annual revenue.
“We invest in an incremental and disruptive innovation, focusing on realization. That strategy has directly affected our results. Up to May this year, we have registered a 15,1% growth in our total revenue regarding the same period in 2018, with new products accounting for a major portion of that performance: 18.1%”, says Leonardo. Annually, the company invests more than 5% of its revenue in research, development, and innovation.
The award ceremony took place last night (2/7), at the convention facility Villa Blue Tree, located in Chácara Santo Antônio, São Paulo (SP).
In its innovation processes, Duas Rodas focuses on partnerships, collaborative innovation, multidisciplinary creation and the use of market intelligence tools, big data and analytics, in order to optimize methods and present solutions increasingly efficient and integrated to the needs of the market.
Antônio Carlos Figueiredo Gonçalves, Director of Innovation and Technology, emphasizes the work that focuses on consolidation of an innovation culture within the company, by engaging employees from every sector. “Such collaborative and innovation-oriented environment allows us to be prepared for market challenges”, he says.
Among the initiatives focusing on innovation, it is also worth pointing out Planta (www.planta.vc), the open innovation platform fostered by Duas Rodas that acts as a bridge between the consumers’ desires and the food and beverage industries. It is a new tool in which anyone can suggest ideas for new products, as well as participate in challenges proposed by companies in the segment. Every suggestion is then reviewed by an internal or external committee, depending on the case, which submits the most feasible ones for development, followed by factory testing and scalability identification.
Planta is considered 1st collaborative innovation platform on food and beverages in Brazil and was regarded by the Consumidor Moderno magazine as the most disruptive innovation for the food industry in 2017.
Present in more than 30 countries, Duas Rodas has been operating for more than 93 years in the manufacture of ingredients for the food and beverage industries in Brazil and abroad. With more than 10,000 customers, the company has a portfolio of around 3000 items divided into three major markets: Flavors, including flavors, natural extracts, dehydrated products, condiments and additives and integrated solutions; Food Service, with products such as ice cream, chocolate, confectionery and bakery, under the brands Specialitá, Selecta and Mix; and Animal Nutrition, with animal nutrition ingredients from the Statera brand.
