The company currently holds the 2nd position in the national ranking for the foods, beverages, and ingredients sector by the Prêmio Valor Inovação Brasil 2018.
Sao Paulo, July 2018 – Duas Rodas, the national leader in the production of flavors and ingredients for the food and beverage industry, has been recognized for the third year in a row as one of the most innovative companies of Brazil by the Prêmio Valor Inovação Brasil 2018. The company currently holds the 2nd position among the most innovative in the food, beverage and ingredients industry in the country. The award, which is in its fourth edition, is the result of an initiative of Valor Econômico in partnership with Strategy& (PWC) a global consultancy team which recognizes companies that excel in research and technology development.
The choice of companies starts with a study involving companies from 21 different sectors and takes into account investments in innovation and creation of new products, as well as best practices and indicators such as solutions and strategies practiced. This survey then presents the Innovation Brazil Yearbook, which brings together the 150 most innovative companies in the country. In the overall ranking, Duas Rodas is among the 50 most innovative, ranking 48th.
For Leonardo Fausto Zipf, President of Duas Rodas, the award is a great recognition of the strategic investment in research, development, infrastructure and intellectual capital to innovate in products, processes, and technologies. “Innovation is the most consistent way of providing sustainability to the company. We are committed to partnerships, collaborative innovation and multidisciplinary creation which empower our methods to innovate with solutions that are increasingly efficient and integrated to the needs of the market,” says the executive.
According to Antonio Carlos Figueiredo Gonçalves, Director of Innovation and Technology at Duas Rodas, this award reinforces the fact that human beings are the greatest attribute in the process of innovation. “Everyone is constantly encouraged to develop new ways of thinking and doing, in order to improve processes, products, and technologies of production and information.”
The awards ceremony took place on July 4th at the Villa Blue Tree event space, located in Chácara Santo Antônio, in São Paulo (SP).
The process of collaborative innovation and the generation of higher value-added products are at the heart of innovation projects for the market. That is why Duas Rodas structures the development of new products with the involvement of consumers, employees, customers, partners, suppliers and universities, as well as the use of market intelligence, big data and analytics tools.
“We have dedicated resources to promote innovation among our customers, with assessment of the needs of market segments, joint generation of ideas and solutions, evaluation of prototypes and validation of suitability of the final product,” adds Leonardo.
With an intense focus on the development of projects in co-creation environments, the Planta collaborative platform was born (www.planta.vc). Planta is a platform of open innovation fostered by Duas Rodas, which acts as a bridge between the desire of consumers and the need of the food and drink industry to create new innovations for the marketplace. Planta is a tool in which anyone can give an idea for a new product, in addition to participating in challenges proposed by companies in the segment. Every suggestion is then reviewed by an internal or external committee, depending on the case, which forwards the most feasible ones for development, followed by factory testing and scalability identification.
Regarding strategic planning, the Brazilian multinational has a detailed technological and strategic roadmap of innovation until 2020. Over the last three years, Duas Rodas has added more than 960 new items to its portfolio, which represented 15% of the company’s revenues.
Among the new projects for 2018 was the implementation of an Innovation and Technology Center at the São Bernardo do Campo unit in Sao Paulo. The center was inaugurated at the end of July with the objective of strengthening the current structure focused on innovation, research, development, and application of products from various areas of the company’s operations.
Duas Rodas currently has over 200 flavor specialists working in its seven units in Latin America to develop technological and innovative solutions for the food and drink industries.
